Annual seminar and Black Belt Promotions June 2011

Kuk Sa Nim, his eldest son Sang Jin (8th degree), Master Barry Harmon (9th degree), and two 7th degree black belts visiting from Korea all came to Anderson, SC on June 30 for the Annual seminar and Black Belt Promotions.  The host was Dr. Daniel Middleton (6th degree). As you can see, there were master instructors (5th degree and above) present to supervise testing and to teach at the seminar.  The site was Dr. Middleton's school Kuk Sool Won of Anderson located at the Anderson Recreation Center.

Kuk Sool Won terminology

Kuk Sa Nim instructs us to use Korean words to describe our actions in Kuk Sool Won, because this reminds us of the origins from Korea.  This adds an extra level of difficulty learning Kuk Sool Won, but is actually good for us, because we use our left hemisphere for language and speech to learn a foreign language during martial arts class.  Here are some links I've found that are helpful in understanding what you may be hearing in class:

Vietnamese New Year Party 2011

The New Year based on the Chinese lunar calendar is officially 2/3/11. The Vietnamese Societies of Greenville and Spartanburg have celebrated on 1/22/11 and 1/29/11 respectively. SBN Toan and the Kuk Sool Won school students provided the dragon dances. Here are Eric Kao, John Leong, SBN Huy Pham in photos 1-3. Photos 4-5 include Matthew Valdez, Bill Leong, and John Leong.
